Over sixteen thousand graduates of the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, would be conferred with the award of various degrees at the 25th and 26th convocation ceremony of the institution scheduled for Tuesday.
Addressing a Press Conference to unveil the series of programmes lined up for the combined ceremonies, as well as the 40th anniversary of the institution, EKSU Vice Chancellor, Prof Edward Olanipekun, said over twelve thousand was for the 25th convocation, while over four thousand would convocate in the 26th convocation ceremonies
Analysing further, Professor Olanipekun said the institution produced 105 First Class graduates in the 25th set, while the 26th set had 173.
The VC, who also reeled out his account of stewardship, declared that all the academic programmes of the institution, except one, had full accreditation.
He acknowledged the support of the state governor and visitor to the University, Dr Kayode Fayemi, saying that the recent EKSU Webometric ranking was made possible by the support.
Prof Olanipekun informed Journalists that each of the graduates of the combined convocation ceremony would have the opportunity of receiving the student’s copy of their transcript alongside their certificates, as necessary machineries had been put in place to clear the backlog of transcript applications.
He listed other activities lined up for the ceremony to include Jumat service on Friday, church service on Sunday, convocation lecture on Monday and conferment of honorary degrees on Wednesday.
According to the vice chancellor, the governor of the central bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, former Osun state governor, Chief Bisi Akande, Hon. Timehin Adelegbe, and Mr Olawale Jegede would be honored by EKSU with Doctorate degrees.
