In its quest to familiarize with the athletes and officials who represented Ekiti state in different sports at the recently concluded National Sports Festival in Edo state, the Sports Writers Association, SWAN, Ekiti state will on Wednesday this week host the Team Ekiti at the SWAN ROUNDTABLE.
At the SWAN ROUNDTABLE, members of SWAN will have the privilege to meet all the medalists in different sports and their coaches and also reiterate it’s commitment towards sports development through more consistent focus and reportage of local sports through the various available social and conventional media platforms.
Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria-SWAN, Ekiti state chapter, Qozeem Oladapo said there was the need for stakeholders, people in positions of authority, philanthropists, and especially government at both the state and local levels to encourage sports men and women in the state by hosting them and supporting them financially and through scholarships for them to keep representing the state at future national sporting competitions.
He said it’s quite unfortunate that several Ekiti born athletes are now proudly representing and winning laurels for other states on the ground that enough encouragement was not coming from their states adding that the SWAN ROUNDTABLE will create a platform to interface with the coaches and athletes on how to nip such development in the bud.
The SWAN ROUNDTABLE with coaches and athletes who represented Ekiti state at the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival will hold on Wednesday at the Oluyemi Kayode stadium in Ado starting from 12 noon.
