Worried by the incessant security challenges in the country, the founder of the Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Aare Afe Babalola has donated fifty million naira to kick start the funding of what he tagged Summit of Hope, with a view to finding a lasting solution to insecurity across the Nation.
Aare Babalola who nominated the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi to coordinate the proposed summit tasked him to meet with other stakeholders, such as former Presidents of the country, prominent Traditional Rulers, and other interest groups to fashion out a way to overcome the challenges.
Aare Babalola was speaking at the 10th edition of the Aare Afe Babalola Annual Public Lecture organised by the Ado Ekiti Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association.
The ABUAD’s founder said ” I hereby offer ABUAD Ultra-modern 7000 seater Alfa Belgore Multipurpose hall for use by the Summit of Hope, and ABUAD five star hotel will provide accomodation and feeding for participants.
“I’m proposing ABUAD as the venue for the Summit of Hope because, it is safe, has a ministry of aviation certified helipad, and a most well equipped 400 bed multi system Hospital.
Aare Babalola who condemned the killings of innocent citizens, especially the recent Greenfield University Students in Kaduna and other unabated security lapses in the country, said that everything humanly possible must be done to address situation.
The ABUAD founder also condemned the lookworm attitude of the NBA as regard the implementation and translation of some unfriendly laws in the country.
Responding, the Ooni of Ife, who is the Chairman of NBA annual Lecture accepted the offer, promising to get back to Aare Babalola on the development.
Oba Adeyeye described Aare Babalola as an asset to Ekiti State and the Nation as a whole.
The Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe said that Aare Babalola has remained a worthy ambassador of the community.
He acknowledged his contributions to the education, health sectors and humanity.
The NBA Chairman, Mr Adeyemi Adewumi said that the Association could not but identify with Aare Babalola, considering his numerous contributions to humanity.
