Following directives from the National body of Women Journalists, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, Ekiti State Chapter has on Tuesday held solemn prayers to seek divine solution to the Insecurity confronting the nation.
The prayers conducted in both Christians and Islamic ways came up at the NUJ Secretariat Old Governor’s Office, Ado-EKiti, the Ekiti State Capital.
The Christian prayers was led by Mrs Yemisi Omotola of the Federal Ministry of Information while the Islamic prayers was presided over by Hajia Hawa Lawal from the News Agency of Nigeria.
The prayer titled ” Oh God Heal Our Land” commenced at ten in the morning, and lasted two hours.
Nigeria has been witnessing various security challenges in all the six geopolitical zones, banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, killings, sexual violence and all sorts of criminal activities have been order of the day.
In view of the unpalatable development, women Journalists in the Country under the leadership of the NAWOJ President, Mrs Ladi Bala directed all the state chapters on holy clarion calls to deliver Nigeria of the unpleasant situation.
NAWOJ in Ekiti state joined its counterparts across the country on the fixed date, Tuesday 11th May to conduct the prayers .
Nawojians , some on red ties called on Almighty God to liberate their Fatherland from Insecurity and all forms of evil and oppression.
The NAWOJ Chairperson Mrs Fatima Bello who commended the leadership of Comrade Ladi Bala on the initiative urged other women organizations to emulate the idea.
” This is a good development kudos to NAWOJ President Mrs Ladi Bala,i call on other women associations to emulate NAWOJ. Women are precious to Almighty God, if other women groups follow suit, Insecurity would be a story in our land .
“With this development coming from NAWOJ, there is hope that Nigerians would soon begin to witness peaceful environment/coexistence and I pray that God Almighty shall speedily answer all our prayers”
Other women organizations like FOMWAN ,NLC Women wing and some market women were also in attendance.
