Ekiti NUT doles out household items to members on instalment

Household items worth millions of Naira have been distributed to members on instalment payment by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ekiti State chapter.

The items included, Television sets, Power generating sets, washing machine, Gas burners, and Refrigerators.

Distributing the items at the NUT Secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the State NUT Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Oke said that the initiative was part of the fulfillment of his campaign promises.

“When I was campaigning, as part of my manifesto, I said I would make sure my members are happy, I promised to make their welfare my priority, this is what you are witnessing today.

“Less than four months in office, I was able to put all this together, this is just the first batch that would take care of five hundred beneficiaries, more would still be done before this Year’s runs out.

“The deduction for the products will commence by June, instead of this May that will are giving you the items, I urge you all to be faithful in paying back.

The NUT Chairman, who said beneficiaries were selected without any influence but on merit, warned against default in repayment.

Commissioner two, in the State Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Jumoke Owoola, who joined in the distribution, commended NUT for the initiative.

“I want to commend NUT executives under the Leadership of Emmanuel Oke, whom I so much believe in, I will continue to support and fight the course of teachers in the State. Mrs Owoola added.

In their responses, the beneficiaries thanked the Chairman for keeping to his promises of placing high premium on members’ welfare, saying they had no regret voting for him
