The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr Funminiyi Afuye, has congratulated Muslims in the state on the successful completion of the 30 days Ramadan fasting.
Afuye described the period of the annual fasting by our Muslims faithful brothers and sisters ‘as a period of moral cleansing and rebirth meant to strengthen our people for societal progress’
The Speaker expressed delight in the way and manner, Muslim faithfuls conducted themselves during the fasting period without breaking COVID-19 protocols.
The Speaker made this commendation in a press release signed by his Special Adviser on media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.
He however urged them not to allow the good lessons learnt during the fasting period to go in vain as “this will amount to a waste of time and self deprivation over nothing.”
Afuye further advised that “as we will be rejoicing during the sallah yeletide, we should do things moderately. We should not go back to our old ways which we turned down during the fasting.”
Afuye expressed optimism that the security challenge in the nation would soon become a thing of the past.
