The Chairman Oye Local Government, Mr Foluso Ojo has presented 2.6 billion naira 2021 budget to the Local Government Legislative Council.
Mr Ojo while presenting the budget tagged “Budget of Consolidation” at the Council’s Legislative Chamber in Oye said that the proposed fiscal estimate was designed to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on the welfare of the people with focus on social security and infrastructural development.
Mr Ojo said 1.9 billion naira was for recurrent expenditure, representing 73 per cent while six hundred and ninety million naira was for capital expenditure, representing 26 percent of the entire budget.
The sectoral breakdown of the budget, tailored along the five pillars that included Social Investment, Agricultural and Rural Development, Infrastructure and Industrial Development, Knowledge Economy as well as Governance.
Mr Ojo who noted that the proposed budget was prepared amid global economic challenges occasioned by the COVID-19 saying skill acquisition and youth empowerment, water supply, road rehabilitation among others would be looked into in this year’s budget.
The Oye Council Boss said that his Government would continue to accord priority to participatory and all-inclusive governance in 2021, boost economic activities of the council area and infrastructural development.
He called on the people of the Local Government to always pay their taxes and other levels for the realization of the budget.
Receiving the Budget, the leader of the Legislative Council, Mr Olumuyiwa Ojo assured the Council Chairman of speedy passage of the budget.
Some of the Legislators whi included the Deputy Leader, Mr Joseph Olowookere and Mr Ilesanmi Owolabi commended the Council’s Executive for their productiveness in developing the area.
