As Igboho visits Ekiti, gunmen strike in Oyo, 20 killed, Palace, Houses burnt

Some unknown gunmen have killed over 20 people in Igangan, one of the towns in Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo state.

According to residents who spoke under the condition of anonymity, the incident occured Saturday night when the gunmen invaded the town around 11pm on more than 20 motorcycles.

The bandits numbering about 50 reportedly struck with sophisticated weapons entering houses and shooting sporadically.

The Palace of the Asigangan as well as a popular petroleum station in town were said not spared in the attack as they were razed.

A former caretaker chairman of the council, Tunji Omolewu confirmed the incident to newsmen.

The Police in Oyo state are yet to confirm the incident but the state commandant of Amotekun, Olayinka Olayanju explained that his officers had been at the scene of the incident to restore peace to the town.

Meanwhile the Popular Yoruba Nation Agitator Mr Sunday Adeyemo known as Sunday Igboho from Oyo State was in Ekiti on Saturday to call on its citizens to reason along his ideological perspective of having a Yoruba Nation.

Igboho came to limelight recently when he gave an ultimatum to Fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa to vacate the land after the killing of Dr. Aborode and enforced same.
