June 12: No protest in Ekiti

By Tunji Saliu

Unlike Lagos and other States where there are protests, the people of Ekiti State are observing the June 12 celebration in a peaceful manner as some stayed indoor, some in their business Environments, while others are attending social engagements.

At Adebayo, Ijigbo, Irona, Okeyinmi, as well as Ajilosun areas of Ado Ekiti, people were going about their businesses without fear of molestation.

Some shops opened for business, while others remained shut and the owners were monitoring the situation before attempting opening them.

Also, few traders were at Oja oba, Oja Bisi and Irona market in the early hours of the morning, but some others joined later having observed that there was no protest.

Report from Ifaki-Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area and Iworoko-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area says few opened shops for their businesses as there was reduction in the number of vehicles that plied the ever busy Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki road

Security personnel were at strategic locations in the city to ensure peaceful celebration.
