An Ekiti state high court, sitting in Ado Ekiti has sentenced one Kehinde Olajide to death by hanging, while Kareem Azeez, Bamisile Lateef and Adebayo Basiru were set free.
Justice Lekan Ogunmoye who gave the order said the prosecutor has proved ingredients of armed robbery against the Olajide beyond reasonable doubt.” He is hereby sentenced to death by hanging until he be dead, may Almighty God have mercy on your soul”.
The Judge said that Kareem Azeez, Bamisile Lateef and Adebayo Basiru were left off hook as there was no nexus linking them to the commission of the offences.
The accused persons were charged with 9 count charge of conspiracy, unlawful possession of firearms and armed robbery contrary to sections 6(b), 3(1) and 1(b)(a) of Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act, Cap.R11, Laws of the federation of Nig., 2004.
The offence was committed between 29th of December, 2018 and 1st January, 2019 in Ado Ekiti.
