The Founder of PETOA group of schools, Dr Peter Àjàyí, has described tax evasion as an act of criminality that should be condemned by patriotic citizens.
He made the submission while delivering the Monthly Lecture of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, BSES chapel at the station’s headquarters, Ilokun, Ado Ekiti.
The School Proprietor, who said that government at all levels needed funds to finance development, hence the revenue drive.
Dr Ajayi, however said that tax payment should not be made to affect the survival of private organizations, especially private schools.
He stressed that private schools in the state had been complimenting public schools in the state through quality teaching and upbringing.
The Private School Proprietor, however, assured the forum that private schools owners in the state would continue to give their support to government to strengthen harmonious working Relationship.
He hammered on the need for media workers to work as intermediary between the government and private Organisations.
Earlier, the Chairman, BSES NUJ Chapel, Mr Kelechi David said that the lecture was put in place to suggest ways of attaining improved IGR generation by government, for enhanced development as well as ease the pains of Private Sectors especially private school owners through the support of media.
The General Manager, Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, BSES, Mr Olurotimi Popoola, thanked the resource person for sharing his knowledge with the people.
Commenting, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Lion Rotimi Ojomoyela said that the lecture which served as eye opener would motivate Journalists to plights of the Private Schools Owners in their quest for survival.
Also, the Director, News and Current Affairs Department BSES, Mr Olusola Oyewole thanked the participants for making the lecture worthwhile.
