A non governmental organization citizens intervention and accountability network CIAN has proposed a collaborative grassroots information database with the Ekiti state government on tackling rate of out-of-school children in the state.
The program and planning director Mr. Samson Abraham made the intension known on Friday in ado Ekiti while presenting it’s proposal of intension to the state’s commissioner for education science and technology Mrs. Adebimpe Aderiye in her office at the secretariat.
Mr.Emmanuel stated that the move became imparrative as a result of the alarming statistics which revealed that 13.2 million out-of-school children are present in the country and to check the trend individuals, corporate organizations and other need to assist government across the country to check the trend.
He explained that for the startistics can not be verified except there is a potent on- the- field assessment of the startistics and profeer lasting solutions to identified reasons for the rise despite government’s massive investment in the sector.
The program director who however praised the Ekiti State government for have the lowest out-of-school children pit at 3% compared to other states have as high as 5% rate explained that there is more to be done to achieve a randomly developed society.
Some of the organization strategic plans include identifying the children and location, reasons for not attending school and their ideology about education while government would be required to provide structures and logistics.
The commissioner for education science and technology Mrs. Adebimpe Aderiye in her response thanked the organization for identifying with the state government enumerated some of the mechanisms put in place by government to check the trend to include free Education policy,child right act,school feeding program,model and farmstead schools, pad bank for girls and GBV clubs to mention a few.
While stressing that the Dr Kayode Fayemi administration remains committed to its zero tolerance for out-of-school children and accerting that there is more to be done she charged the organization to study the state model to check the trend and make recommendation on areas that still remain untapped and profeer solutions for partnership.
She commended the team lead of the organization and promised to get back to them as soon as the proposal is carefully and professionally considered after which another meeting will be organized for harmonization.
