INEC to use BVAS machine in Ekiti Election

…..as University Don, Oyinloye speaks on importance of indigenous language…

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has expressed its readiness to use Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS machine to capture faces of electorate during the July governorship election in the State

The INEC’s State Public Relation Officer, Mr Femi Akinbiyi who revealed this while featuring on EKTV Yoruba News and Current Affairs Programme, E Jiire, reiterated the commitment of the electoral body to conduct a free, fair and transparent governorship elections in the Ekiti State.

Mr Akinbiyi said that INEC has been meeting with stakeholders in the state with a view to ensuring that the June 18 Governorship Election wass successful and called on traditional and religious leaders to encourage their followers who have not register to do so.

He emphasized that continuous voter’s registration is on going at the designated centers of the commission while training and retraining are not left out.

He emphasized the need for political parties to make their campaigns issue-based, saying that campaign window would open March twenty.

Also on the Programme, a University Don, Professor Oludele Oyinloye from the Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado-Ekiti emphasized the importance of indigenous language to the development of any nation.

Professor Oyinloye advised Government at all levels to make indigenous language a compulsory subject in the schools.

The academical urged parents and every citizen to place more premium on indigenous languages to save them from going to extinction.

Professor Oyinloye who blamed politicians’ defections from one party to other on lack of indept knowledge of indigenous language urged every citizen to speak the language.

The Don added that there were clear differences among language, culture and religion while the three work hand in hand.
