The Court of Appeal sitting in Ado Ekiti today 12th May, 2022 affirmed the rights of the Arubiojo and Onifisin as Ruling Houses entitled to field candidates for the Olosi of Osi Ekiti stool.
In a unanimous judgement delivered by Hon Justice Awotoye, the Court upheld the 2020 judgement of the Hon Justice Adekunle Adeleye of Ekiti State High Court which ruled in favour of Arubiojo and Onifisin Ruling Houses in a case filed by the Akombo and Alawe Houses challenging the inclusion of Arubiojo and Onifisin as Ruling Houses in the Olosi stool.
The Trial judge had ruled in favour of the Arubiojo and Onifisin Ruling Houses on the six issues raised for determination. The Akombo and Alawe Houses had appealed the judgement on three counts.
Delivering the unanimous judgment, the Hon Justice Awotoye, threw out the case as lacking in merit. He affirmed that the Arubiojo and Onifisin rights to the Olosi stool is incontrovertible and sacrosanct.
He described the issues raised for determination as frivolous and lacking in merit.
