Ekiti State Government has concluded plans to commence the payment of outstanding salary deductions to various cooperative societies in the state public service.
Governor Kayode Fayemi who gave the information in Ado when he played host to leadership of the state Nigeria labour Congress, NLC led by it’s chairman, Mr Kolapo olatunde affirmed that government would also implement the new minimum wage for workers on grade level 14 and above while the payment of promotion arrears for 2019and 2020 will commence in no distance time.
The governor hinted that the none remittance of funds to the federation account by the NNPC in the last six months had hindered the state government from meeting some of it’s obligations.
He said that government would continue to do everything possible within the available resources to address issues concerning the welfare and wellbeing of the workers, urging them to show understanding with government.
Dr Fayemi emphasized the need for the labour leaders to sustain the ongoing industrial harmony between the government and the workers and as well extend such gesture in the in coming administration.
Earlier in his remarks, the NLC chairman Mr olatunde said that the present administration had done well for the workforce in the areas of prompt payment of salaries and other emoluments.
He called on government to fashion out modalities to defray the accumulated gratuities and remittance of outstanding salary deductions to cooperative societies.
