The Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested one Innocent Ekpako (25), for stealing and making away with his master’s money.
The command also arrested one Ademiluyi Ayodeji (36) for defrauding several Point of Sales POS reps in Ado Ekiti.
Parading the suspects at the Corps’ Counterterrorism Unit in Ado, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Tolu Afolabi, said the duo were arrested following intelligence report and hardwork of the counterterrorism unit.
He explained that while Innocent was arrested in Cross River State after a manhunt, Ademiluyi was picked-up in Ado Ekiti.
Afolabi, who explained the modus operandi of Ademiluyi, noted that the suspect was in the habit of disguising as a doctor and approached POS agents to withdraw money, while he would send fake debit alerts to them.
The NSCDC PRO said that in his bid to cover his tracks, Ademiluyi would pretend to be receiving urgent calls in the presence of the agents while he walked away in a hurry.
He said that the Command had received several complaints about the antics of the 36 year old Ademiluyi and had been on his trail till he met his Waterloo.
Afolabi appealed to POS agents to be wary of customers they transact business with to avoid being defrauded.
He added that the duo would be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
Two of the victims of Ademiluyi, who were present during the parade, narrated their ordeal to newsmen and pleaded with the command to help them retrieve their money.
Ademiluyi in an interview confessed to the commission of the crime.
