The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Oladayo Amao has said that his office was planning the installation of modern 6 unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAVs) in the six geopolitical zones of the country, with that of the South west in Ekiti.
He gave the indication while playing host to the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji in Abuja.
He added that with the construction of Ekiti Cargo International and Passenger Airport, the UAV for the south west geo-political zone would be installed at the airport.
Air Vice Amao also promised the Governor of the deployment of Airforce personnel in the state as soon as possible.
The Governor, had earlier urged the Nigeria AirForce to make available the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) for full fledged air operations at the Ekiti Cargo International Airport, in Ado Ekiti as soon as possible.
Governor Oyebanji, who was received by the Chief of Air Staff and top officers at the Airforce Headquarters, said that the construction of the Ekiti Cargo International and Passenger Airport by former Governor Kayode Fayemi was laudable as it would help grow the state economy, boost agro business and create jobs.
The governor, who explained the importance of a functional Airport, noted that the operations of the Ekiti Airport would serve the people of the South West and other parts of the country better.
He called for the presence of the Airforce in Ekiti State and assured the Chief of Air Staff of necessary support.
Governor Oyebanji thereafter laid a wreath at the Airforce Cenotaph in memory of airmen and women who laid down their lives while serving the nation.
