Gov Oyebanji promises more recognition for women

Ekiti State Government would build on issues relating to women development and Girl Child.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji gave the assurance during a working visit to the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Pauline Tallen in Abuja.

The meeting was part of the Governor’s visit to Federal Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Development Partners in the country.

The Governor said that gender balance and women related issues was part of his government working plans citing the State Deputy Governor and Secretary to the State Government as examples.

He commended the achievements recorded in the sector by Former Governor Kayode Fayemi and his wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, promising to build on the records especially on gender Mainstream and Affirmation.

Responding, the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Pauline Tallen lauded contributions of Ekiti State government on women related issues particularly bringing to the fore the law against Gender based Violence.

Saying about N3 billion naira has been earmarked by Nigeria for women project, the Minister informed that the largesse would spread to all states of Nigeria.

Mrs Tallen assured the Governor of necessary support for the state.
