The speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Gboyega Aribisogan, says that the security presence in the Assembly complex is to forestall breakdown of law and order.
Aribisogan, in a telephone interview, said the Police were working on an intelligence report that hoodlums intended to attack members and staff of the Assembly.
He denied insinuations that the security presence was connected with his emergence as speaker.
Men of the Nigeria Police Force had earlier today cordoned off the premises of the Assembly, the development which forced civil servants out of their offices.
The Assembly workers, who spoke and demanded that their identity be concealed, said that workers were directed to vacate the Assembly complex over the report of purported invasion by some armed thugs.
