Oyebanji’s Wife Jubilates as Tribunal Vindicates Governor

Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji has expressed her appreciation to God and Ekiti people over the victory of her husband, Governor Abiodun Oyebanji and and the Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye at the Ekiti State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ado Ekiti.

In a unanimous judgement, members of the tribunal panel earlier on Thursday, dismissed the case instituted by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate, Mr Segun Oni against the June 18th electoral victory of Biodun Oyebanji as the Governor of the state.

Reacting to the judgement, the Governor’s wife described Oyebanji’s victory as a divine project, adding that no earthly judgement can contest it.

“We are not in this race by accident, BAO is the Governor of Ekiti today by divine arrangement. It’s not something we just stumbled upon, it was orchestrated by God.

“The same God who called him is at hand at every stage of the process to defend him. What God did today has further built my faith and increased my confidence in Him”, she stressed.

Mrs Oyebanji further appreciated all the leadership and members of All Progressives Congress and Ekiti people for their support to the Governor and prayed that God would continue to lead the state alright.

The court, in over two hours forty-five minutes judgement, resolved all the issues brought by the petitioner for determination against them and subsequently affirmed the election of incumbent Governor Biodun oyebanji.

Delivering the ruling, a member of the Tribunal, Justice Zaad Zadawa held that the SDP and its candidate failed to present satisfactory evidences that the incumbent Governor and his Deputy were not eminent qualified to contest the June 18 poll.

The court further affirmed that it was peurile for the petitioner to base their case on the signing of a nomination letter since it was the party at the state level that decides candidate to represent it in an election.
