The Ekiti State Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji has sympathized with the people of Oke-Ako in Ikole Local Government area of the state following the level of havoc wreaked on the community occasioned by rainstorm on Friday.
The Governor during a visit to the community described the occurrence as devastating.
Oyebanji represented by his Deputy Okinlua Monisade Afuye was conducted round the affected areas by the Regent of the town, Tinuade Adebayo.
The torrential downpour, which was said to have lasted for over two hours destroyed Scores of Houses, electric poles and personal documents.
The Governor who expressed delight that no life was lost in the incident said that government would collaborate with the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA in order to put smiles on the faces of the affected victims without further delay.
The lawmaker representing the constituency in the House of Assembly, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye appealed to the victims to be peaceful and promised that help will be offered for them to recover their losses.
The General Manager State Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Jide Borode, said the rainstorm effect could have been minimised, if the landlords have keyed into the tree planting initiative of the state government.
Some of the residents who spoke during the visit thanked the state Government for her love for them.
