Electricity consumers who are not satisfied with the services of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company can now lodge their complaints as the Nigeria electricity regulatory commission has an office in Ekiti State
Unveiling the office, located on Iworoko Road, in Ado, the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, said that the establishment of the office would encourage the BEDC to improve power supply to the state.
Governor Oyebanji, who was represented by the state commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof Mobolaji Aluko, expressed the hope that the office would help reduce the complaints being received by the state government on Electricity supply.
He bemoaned the inadequate megawatts being supplied to the state, adding that efforts by the state government to generate its own electricity had reached 80 percent completion.
The Vice Chairman of NERC, Dr Musiliu Oseni, said that though the office was in the state to address complaints by consumers, but appealed to people to explore every available opportunity before contacting the commission.
He said the commission was in the state to serve and deliver on its mandate on ensuring that dissatisfied Consumers get Justice.
The Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, represented by a director in the ministry, Mrs Titilayo Agbeyo, reiterated the readiness of the ministry to improve power distribution in the country.
Other speakers at the forum urged prospective complainants in the state to explore all means before contacting NERC.
The commission later put five man committee in place to address issues at the commission.
