The Chairman of the Ido Osi Local Government, Mr Bamidele Omoleye, has appealed for donations to the purse of the Nigeria Legion.
The chairman made the call while laying the wreath to commemorate this years armed forces remembrance day held in Ido Ekiti.
Mr Omoleye, who observed the match pass of the legionnaires, laid the wreath in honor of the departed soldiers, followed by his counterpart in Isokan LCDA, Mr Ezekiel Ogundaisi and the Chairman of the Traditional council of the local government area, the Olojudo, Oba Ilori Faboro, represented by the Olufaki Oba Adegbenro Falore
The chairman said that the contributions of the fallen heroes to the unity of the country could not be quantified, hence the need to prioritize their welfare.
He promised that the council would continue to do its best by taking good care of the dependants of the fallen heroes.
Earlier the Chairman of the legion in the council, Major Emmanuel Omotayo, appealed to people to support the legion.
After the ceremony, the local government chairman, Mr Omoleye, has inaugurated the Secretary of the Council, Mr Lekan Odetola.
The council boss charged him to be resolute and be ready to work with him to uplift the council.
He also advised him to regard his appointment as a call to service.
In his remarks, Mr Odetola pledged his loyalty to the administration of Mr Omoleye by discharging his duties effectively.
