The Abuad Multi System Hospital, Ado Ekiti says it has recorded over a hundred open heart surgeries, cardiac interventional procedures in the last six years of establishment.
The Chief Medical Director of the Multisystem Hospital, Dr Kolawole Ogundipe, gave the information while addressing Newsmen as part of activities lined up for the anniversary.
He said that the surgeries and procedures included multiple valve replavements, coronary artery bypass grafts and pacemaker insertions, among others.
The Chief Medical Director said the hospital, since its inception, had continued to experience unprecedented growth with several incredible feats, while also offering services in all aspects of medicine, Renal and radiological services.
According to him, the hospital has assumed the position of a leading center for kidney, heart and vascular surgeries.
Dr Ogundipe said one of the feats achieved by the hospital in the last six years was the Endovascular stent placement to repair an abdominal aortic aneurysm successfully carried out by the personnel of the health institution.
He explained that the feat was the first in Nigeria, hence the accolades received from the Nigerian Cardiac Society by the institution.
The CMD said the hospital was not resting on its oars as it was fast gaining its pride of place as the leading center for kidney health in Nigeria with the Inauguration of sixteen state of the art modern dialysis machines installed.
He informed journalists that the renal unit, which started with about 10 dialysis treatment every month, now performs over four hundred dialysis treatment sessions, while 13 patients had had successful renal transplantation.
On activities lined up for the anniversary, the CMD explained that an annex of the hospital, located in the Odo Ado area of the state capital, would be inaugurated, while a free of charge outreach programme has been scheduled for four days.
He denounced the insinuations that the cost of medicare in the facility was on the high side, saying the cost was highly subsidised.
Dr Ogundipe said that the Multi System Hospital had helped reduce medical tourism abroad, considering the high profile patients being attended to there.
In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Abuad, Prof Smranda Olarinde, acknowledged the contributions of the hospital to the improved well being of the citizenry.
He described the Abuad Multi System Hospital as a place that prioritises quality medicare.
