The Chairman of Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Samuel Adewumi Abejide has charged local government workers to consistently strive towards improved service delivery to engender rapid socio-economic transformation at the grassroots.
The Commission Chairman who was represented by the permanent secretary, in the commission, Mrs. Titilayo Toba- Ojo gave the charge while addressing workers of Ido-Osi Local Government and Isokan Local Council Development Area at the prayer meeting organized by the Commission being the last one for the year 2024.
Mr. Abejide who emphasized the importance of prayers urged the staff to be fervent in praying for the local government service, Ekiti State and Nigeria especially at this critical period.
“Let us persevere so as to reap even greater results because of the positive implications of our fervent prayers which no doubt has yielded results since the prayer tour began”. Abejide added
He encouraged the staff to engage in self development to broaden their capacity to enable them execute the programmes and policies of the Governor aimed at ensuring the success of the shared prosperity mantra of the administration, adding that ‘continuous learning and improvement drive long time success’.
The chairman, urged the workers to be transparent and dedicated to duty in order to repay government workers-friendly policies with absolute support.
Mr Abejide used the forum to commend the staff of Ido-Osi and Isokan councils for their exemplary performance and unwavering commitment to supporting their chairmen and by extension Mr Governor.
In his remark, the Ido-Osi Council boss, Mr Bamidele Adetiloye Omoleye reiterated the efficacy of prayers noting that what Nigeria and Nigerians need is to pray for our leaders to lead the country out of the woods.
He commended the Ekiti State Governor for all round sectoral developments to better the lots of the residents of the state.
Speaking on behalf of the workers, the Chairman of NULGE in Ido-Osi, Comrade Deji Ogunjobi, commended the state government, highlighting the benefits the workers have enjoyed so far especially prompt payment of salaries and allowances, pensions and gratuities to retirees and sought for more.
Comrade Ogunjobi who pledged the loyalty of the staff expressed happiness over the resolution of the minimum wage in Ekiti State.
Earlier in a sermon, Pastor Isaac Idowu stressed that Nigeria’s challenges might have originated from unresolved ancestral sins, citing King’s David experience in the Bible as a lesson.
He called collective repentance and prayer for the nation’s transformation.
