His words.
“Kudos to the Ekiti State Fire Service for averting serious inferno at EKSU
I was studying at the library of the Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies, Ekiti State University this afternoon, Thursday, January 9, 2025, when I noticed through the window, a raging fire just a few meters away from the library.
I knew it was a matter of minutes before the fire would consume the whole building if not stopped immediately. I quickly put a call through to the Ekiti State Fire Service, telling them about the danger of the raging fire, and I gave them the location.
I did not believe it when I heard the siren of the fire truck in less than twenty minutes after my call.
The firemen swung into action immediately and put the fire under control.
I wish to commend the promptness of the fire service, and I commend the effectiveness of one Mr. Ayeni, who received my call and quickly mobilised his men, who arrived at the scene in less than 20 minutes. This is commendable. I also commend the Oyebanji administration in investing in the fire service department by his numerous interventions to ensure effective service delivery. If not for the quick response of the firemen, the whole Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies would have been razed.
I also commend the HOD of the Department, Dr. Oyewale, who mobilised other staff and the security at the faculty to put out the fire with buckets of water before the arrival of the fire service. They all displayed genuine concern and patriotism expected of good staff of the institution and good citizens of the country.
I wish to implore all of us to be careful about bush burning and igniting any kind of fire this season of the year.
May God continue to protect us.
