Abducted Benue Varsity students regain freedom

The Benue Police Command has said that the abducted students from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, FUAM have regained their freedom.

The State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the release said that the students were freed on Tuesday.

Anene  said in a statement that the kidnapped students of the University of Agriculture have been released unhurt, emphasizing that investigation into the case continues.

Similarly,  Rosemary Waku, the director of information, protocol and public relations of FUAM, also confirmed the release of the students.

A statement by Waku, revealed that the students were returned to campus on Tuesday.

She identified the released students as Israel Farren Kwaghgee and Solomon Salihu.

She, however, did not say if a ransom was paid before the students were released.

The kidnappers had earlier contacted one of the parents of the students and demanded N20 million ransom but there was no information on whether ransom was paid or not.
