Ado West LG cultivates two hectares of Cassava, Maize.

As part of efforts to boost food sufficiency in the state, Ado West Local Council Development Area has cultivated over two hectares of maize and cassava at the council farm.

The Council Chairman, Prince Bolu Aladesanmi, who led his team to the farm to harvest the maize, said the initiative was a way of supporting Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s agenda in Agriculture.

The Chairman noted that the only way out of the food insufficiency was farming, hence the need for the LCDA to embark on mechanised farming to ensure food abundance at the grassroot level.

He commended the governor’s efforts in making the State the food basket of the nation.

The LCDA Director of Agriculture, Mrs Sade Oladimeji, thanked the Council boss for supporting the Agricultural drive, noting that plans were underway to cultivate more hectares during the next farming season.

The Head of Local Government Administration, Mr Seyi Olatunde, urged people to develop interest in Agriculture as a means of putting an end to hunger in the land.

The harvested maize was later taken to Okesa market for sales to residents at a cheaper rate.

Buyers at the market commended Prince Aladesanmi and his team for contributing their quota towards putting an end to poverty, urging other local governments to take a cue.
