The Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has reiterated his administration’s commitment to even development of all communities in the state.
Dr Fayemi stated this when he received a delegation from Ido-Ile Community led by its traditional ruler, the Olojudo of Ido-Ile, Oba Aderemi Obaleye in his office on Monday.
He said that his Government would not neglect any community in its developmental agenda for the state.
The delegation which also comprised of the Obanla of Ido-Ile Ekiti, Chief Jide Oyedele, the Olomo of Ido-Ile, Chief Ade Ibironke; the National President of Ido-Ile Progressive Union, Sir Goke Adurota and the Secretary, Venerable Abiodun Fatokun had solicited the Governor’s intervention in the construction of the remaining 4Km of the Ido-Ile – Okemesi road which was awarded in 2008 and continued during the Fayemi first administration but abandoned by the immediate past administration.
The Governor, who assured the community that he would look into their demand, explained that the state was experiencing tough times and was only trying its best to ensure that salaries of workers and pensions were paid as and when due.
He stated that most of the road projects going on in the state were being done through the support of Development Partners like World Bank and other interventions .
He however promised to explore the posibility of additional resources from development partners and then find a way to include more road projects to enable the people enjoy the benefits of government.
“All communities deserve the attention of government, and we don’t want to be found wanting or accused of neglecting one community against the other. We want to do as much as we can in all our communities so that we can also leave with our heads high that we had done our best to see that we have put Ekiti on a solid footing and our communities in a better place.”
“Every community wants government support and road construction is one of the ways of measuring impact in terms of development in the community. These are very tough times and you know it yourselves, all I can say is that I would look into it and see how we can help achieve the objective. All that we are focusing on now is to just pay salaries so that our people would at least be able to maintain themselves with little that is available to them.”
Earlier, Oba Aderemi Obaleye commended Governor Fayemi for his various support to the community including the release of N5 million towards the ultra modern palace project, channelization of parts of the community and support for the community Town Hall project among others.
