Anglican Communion Commends Fayemi over Christ’s School return

The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, in Ekiti, has expressed gratitude to the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, for returning Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti, to the mission, with a promise to continue to uphold the tradition, identity, culture, value and legacy of the renowned school.

Speaking on behalf of the Diocese, the Archbishop of Ondo Province and Bishop of Ekiti Anglican Diocese, Dr Christopher Omotunde and the Bishop of Igbomina West, Most Rev ‘Jide Adebayo, commended the Governor for playing critical roles in ensuring that the school was returned to the original owner.

The Clerics, who spoke at the thanksgiving service marking the end of the 2021 Annual General Reunion of the Alumni Association of the School in Ado Ekiti, noted that the journey to get the school back from government started during the first term of Governor Fayemi.

They promised that the mission would ensure that the school returned to the number one position it used to occupy in the commity of great schools in the country.

They Spoke, just as Governor Fayemi, who is President of the 1975/80 set of Christ’s School commended the leadership of the Anglican mission for prioritising values, excellence, competence, compassion for humanity and devotion to God in the school.

Dr Fayemi reiterated the commitment of the Alumni Association to ensuring the infrastructural development of the school as well as other projects that would improve the educational standard.He said: “We thank the leadership of the Anglican mission for instilling in us the values of commitment to excellence, competence, compassion for humanity and God all through our stay here”.”As old students of this school, we remain committed to assisting the school with projects that will improve the standard of education and restore the values of the school.

“The week- long reunion activities, hosted by the 1975/80 and 1976/81 sets, featured the official celebration of the handing over of the School to the Anglican Church and the constitution of the Board of Trustees as well as the Governing Board for the smooth running of the school.

In his homily, the Bishop of Anglican Communion, Igbomina West, Rev Jide Adebayo, who spoke on using “simple solution to solve complex problem,” explained how the founding Father of Christ School, Henry Dallimore and his wife used education in the early 1930s to lighten Ekiti State and “now the State has become a state of Professors and Fountain of Knowledge.”

The Bishop, who commended the Governor for reviving the Ikun Dairy farm, maintained that setting up of ranches across the country remained one of the major solutions to herder/farmer conflict.

Bishop Adebayo also suggested the setting up of Independent Power Plants across the country as a solution to the epileptic power supply in the Country.At the thanksgiving service, prayers were offered for the alumni body, students and teachers of the school, the Governor and government of Ekiti State and the country in general.

In attendance at the service were the Wife of the Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, and the country’s ambassador to The Netherlands, Dr Eniola Ajayi and her husband, among other prominent old students of the school.
