Police Authorities in Ekiti State have cautioned commercial motorcyclists against working beyond ten in the evening.
The warning came on the heels of high spate of killing of Okada riders in recent times.
Addressing the motorcyclists at a meeting held at Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado, a Chief Supritendent of Police, Victor Akinsanya, said the high rate of killing of riders in the State capital called for concern, noting that all hands must be on deck to fish out the perpetrators.
He said henceforth, commercial motorcyclists would not be allowed to work beyond ten in the evening and advised operators to supply credible intelligence to security agencies to curb the menace.
CSP Akinsanya also charged them to obey traffic rules, ensure registration of their motorcycles and desist from taking passengers to unknown locations.
In his remarks, the chairman of Okada Riders Association in the State, Mr Kunle Asaolu, said that the emergency meeting was occasioned by the recent hike in attacks on Okada riders in the state.
He explained that 23 commercial motorcyclists were killed and their motorbikes taken away within the last three weeks.
Mr Asaolu said that efforts were in top gear to fish out the culprits and advised the commercial motorcyclists to abide by the guidelines reeled out by the police.
Also, CSP Mustapha Mohammed conveyed the message in Hausa to riders who are from the northern part of the country.

Ekiti state government should stop Hausa/ Fulani indigine in participating in commercial motorcyclists popularly known as Okada rider. They can be involved in any nefarious activities because they stay not in a place, and nobody to trace them with. When their misdeeds had been done, they join available trucks to northern state immediately. The bad eggs among them always cover their head with filthy clothes. They are untraceable I must say. The government need to take a proactive steps in making sure all evildoers in the state are shown their way out. The genuine one should register with the association of Okada riders and let the association give them identifiable reflective jackets for their daily activities.
Thank you.
