The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Abiodun-Oyebanji, has charged the wives of Council chairmen in the state to make their impact felt in their areas.
She gave the charge while addressing them at a meeting in Ado Ekiti.
The governor’s wife also briefed them on the outcome of the meeting she had with the President’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Dr. Abiodun-Oyebanji, who decried the gap between the wives of the local government chairmen and the people at the grassroots, encouraged them to connect with their people.
She explained that connecting with the people at the grassroots would be beneficial to the administrations of their husbands.
The first lady, who spoke on her pet project, Widows and Orphans Hope Project, WAOH, told the Chairmen’s wives to replicate it at the grassroots.
Dr. Abiodun-Oyebanji also informed participants on the Pet project of the wife of the President, tagged “Renewed Hope Initiative”.
Speaking further on the project, Dr Abiodun -Oyebanji said it had five pillars, namely: agriculture, Health, Education, Economic empowerment, and Social Investment.
The Gender Officer, Office of the Wife of the Governor, Shelly Atane, had earlier complained about the inadequate attention given to gender issues by the wives of the Chairmen, encouraging them to complement the efforts of the Office of the First Lady in the fight against gender-based violence.
The stakeholders had the opportunity to bear their minds over gray issues that were subsequently addressed at the forum.
