A magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has granted Human Rights activist, Dele Farotimi bail in the sum of thirty million naira with two sureties.
Farotimi is facing trial in an alleged defamation case instituted by legal luminary Aare Afe Babalola.
The presiding magistrate, Abiodun Adeosun held that, Farotimi should deposit his International passport with the court.
Farotimi had been brought court in company of officers from the rapid response squad of the Ekiti State police command and officials of the Nigeria Correctional service.
The suspect is facing a sixteen count charge for allegedly defaming Afe Babalola in his book titled “Nigeria and its criminal justice system
He is also facing a Twelve count charge at the federal high court, Ado Ekiti where he was earlier granted bail.
The court has adjourned the case till the 13th of February next year
