But for the timely intervention of residents of Olujoda area of Ado Ekiti, middle-aged scavengers, who had looted the residence of Mr Sola Olorunlana would have made away with his belongings.
The scavengers who were said to be young Hausa men were said to be in the habit of looting and bugling homes while the occupants were away to work.
The latest victim, Mr Olorunlana, explained that he received a distress call while at work that some scavengers were sighted in his compound carting away some of his properties.
He said that vigilant neighbors however raised the alarm that forced the scavengers to flee.
Olorunlana added that the already stolen items, including Solar batteries, inverter, loud speakers, and burglary worth thousands of naira were recovered
He advised Ekiti residents to be wary of scavengers roaming the the streets during office hours.
Some other residents also urged security agents to increase surveillance to curb the menace.
They also advised the state government to encourage security outfits to do more in protecting lives and properties.
