The Coalition of Ekiti State Civil Society Organisations has lauded the peaceful conduct of the governorship primary elections of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) the People’s Democratic party PDP.
Chairperson of the organization, Prof Christopher Oluwadare at a press conference held in Ado, noted that the election was free, fair and credible devoid of violence or anarchy.
He said that the Organization which is the umbrella body of civil society organizations in the state testified to the acceptablity of both the primary elections of the two major political parties, and disassociated the organization from a publication by a group he described as faceless political appendage masquerading as civil society.
Professor Oluwadare advised other APC aspirants who did not participate in the election to close ranks and review positively the outcome of the election as true progressive democrat, adding that the peace and progress of Ekiti was a collective agenda.
He emphasized the need for winners of the APC and PDP primary elections to embrace consultation with civil society organizations to foster development-oriented agenda that would guarantee inclusiveness.
