Democracy Day: We are not moving backward, but not there yet- Engr. Omotoso

… .Urges Nigerians to be focused

The Initiator of Ayo Omotoso Movement AOM and Ayo Omotoso Foundation AOF, Engr Ayo Omotoso has rejoiced with Nigerians on the occasion of the 25 years of uninterrupted democratic rule.

Engr. Omotoso said that as the country was marking her milestone, the nation could not but reflect on the journey thus far and the state of the nation’s democracy which has further confirmed that Nigeria is still a work in progress.

“We are not there yet, and it’s a slow movement but I don’t think we are moving backward, despite the return to civilian rule, we have not witnessed significant advancements in social democracy, and has not translated to economic prosperity for Nigerians. It is a stark reminder that our democracy is still a work in progress” Omotoso remarked.

He called on Nigerians to keep supporting President Bola Tinubu towards his quest to develop the Nation and urged the President to intensify efforts on resuscitating the critical areas, including security, job creation, arrest of inflation, and restructuring, for the socio-economic development of the country and the welfare of its citizens

He noted that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has the political strength and economic ability to address the challenges facing the country and urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and steadfast in their collective journey towards a greater nation.

The Itapa Ekiti born political juggernaut noted that the ship of the country will continue to be steered towards economic prosperity, with the right attitude and commitment from Nigerians.

“As a Nation, we are filled with hope and promises of a better future which can only be achieved if we are focused and I want to urge every Nigerian to remain hopeful and steadfast in our collective journey towards a greater nation under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu,” he said.

He said it became necessary to pay gallant tribute to individuals who played crucial roles in Nigeria’s democratic struggle, including Chief MKO Abiola, General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, and others, which paved the way for the opportunities Nigerians now have to build on for a better nation.

“As we celebrate Democracy Day, we are reminded of the sacrifices made by our heroes past and present who fought for our freedom and rights. We honour their memory by continuing to strive for a better Nigeria, where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive..
