The Chairman of Ekameta Local Council Development Area, Dr Leye Adeniji has distributed farm inputs to selected farmers from Ipole Iloro, Ikogosi, and Erijinyan Ekiti, in a bid to ensure food sufficiency.
Dr Adeniji who addressed the farmers at the Council Secretariat in Erijinyan noted that the move was in compliance with the directive of the governor to empower farmers with a view to boosting Ekiti Agricultural base.
Dr Adeniji advised the beneficiares to utilise the farm inputs effectively to arrest the problem of food scarcity in the land.
The Commissioner for local government affairs , Mr Folorunso Olabode commended Dr Adeniji for the initiative while calling on well to do to invest in agriculture.
He said the move was in tandem with the vision of the state government to ensure Agricultural product are sufficient in the state.
There were goodwill messages from Olupole , Oba Babatola Oladele , ADP Programme Manager, Mr Yakub Oladele, State FADAMA Coordinator , Mrs Yetunde Okunlola, AFAN Chairman, Mr Alagbada and others at the event.
Items distributed were maize seedlings, fertilizers, cutlasses, Soil Testing Kits and cash gifts.
Some of the beneficiaries thanked Ekameta LCDA management for the gift, and promised to use them for the purpose meant for.
Earlier there was a short lecture for the farmers on how to improve their farm produce by Director of Agriculture , Mr Felix Aruleba.
