A former National Assembly lawmaker in Ekiti state, Congressman Bimbo Daramola has unveiled plans to organize a monthly health and fitness walk tagged “The BAOWalk” in the State.
Hon Daramola who represented Oye Ikole constituency at the National Assembly between 2011 to 2015 gave the indication while addressing Journalists in Ado Ekiti, the state capital on Friday.
He said the walk which would span between 10 to 16 kilometers would first be carried out in Ikole Local government area of the state by February 2025.
According to Daramola the initiative which was aimed at promoting healthy living among citizens and complement the strides of the BAO administration in the area of health, would similarly be replicated in other local council areas.
The former lawmaker explained that the purpose of the walk was
to also institutionalise the need for people to adopt other means of staying healthy rather than consulting hospitals frequently for
treatment.
He noted that arrangements had been made for about three hundred people and more who would be participating in the exercise.
Daramola noted that the walk will also remove bottlenecks and
lessen the burden on the government expenses on resident’s
treatment.
