Ekiti Assembly passes 2023 bugdet

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has passed the 2023 Appropriation Bill of over N113.57 billion.

The appropriation bill tagged,”Budget of Strong Beginning” was unanimously passed at the plenary held at the Assembly’s complex Ado-Ekiti.

The consideration for the passage followed the submission of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation by its Chairman, Mr Lateef Akanle.

Reading the report of his committee, Akanle recommended a recurrent expenditure of N79.51 billion and capital expenditure of N34.06 billion.

He recommended that since 2023 can only be run through revenues, there should be joint efforts by members at various committee levels to monitor the Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) of the Ministry Department ad Agencies (MDAs)to ensure the realisation of the 2023 fiscal year.

The appropriation bill was later ratified by the Committee of the Whole House.


In her remarks, the Speaker of the Assembly, Mrs Olubunmi Adelugba lauded the finance and appropriation committee for a job well done, while thanking the lawmakers for the speedy consideration of the bill.

The House thereafter adjourned till January, 2023 for plenary.
