Ekiti Assembly summons Agric Commissioner.

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has directed its committee on Agriculture to invite the commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade to appear before it and give account on modalities used in palliative distribution in the state.

The house during it plenary in Ado said the commissioner should appear to render his account of stewardship.

The Assembly also lamented the food crisis ravaging the nation as well as high cost of food prices, but commended the Nigeria first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu over her own a garden initiative, saying this would ensure food security.

Members applauded the wife of Ekiti State governor , Dr Olayemi Abiodun Oyebanji for being the first person to key into the Initiative among the wives of the state governors, as announced by the wife of the President.

Lawmaker representing Irepodun / Ifelodun 2, Mr Hakeem Jamiu called the attention of the Assembly to a law passed by the sixth Assembly in 2021 on the need for Civil Servants and Political office holders in the state to Own a farm while lawmaker representing Ekiti East 1, Mr Oladele Ogunsakin emphasised the need for rebuilding the security architecture to protect farmers from herdsmen destruction to their farms.

The House resolved to write a letter of Commendation to the wife of the President and first lady of Ekiti state for showing leadership by example on Own a Garden initiative as currently being practised by both.

Also , Ekiti State Property Protection law 2024 (Anti Land Grabbing ) passed through the second reading and was passed to law.
