Ekiti Assembly summons Ilejemeje, Ado central LCDA managements

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has ordered the managements of two local governments areas to reappear before the committee of the house next week due to inadequate information and lack of vital documents to back up their financial reports.

The councils are Ilejemeje and Ado central LCDA.

The Assembly had earlier invited all the Local Councils and the LCDA to give Account of their Stewardship at the Chamber in Ado Ekiti

The Exercise which began with Ise and Ilejemeje Local Government as well as Ado Central LCDA had in attendance the chairmen, vice Chairmen, Heads of Local Administration, Secretaries to the Local Government among others.

In his Opening remarks, the Speaker, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye said the exercise was a testament to the commitment of the Legislative arm of Government in making sure there was transparency and accountability at the Local Government level and to scrutinize their performances

He added that Local Government was an important tier of Government that play a vital role and entrusted with the responsibilities of handling the welfare of the people at the grassroot.

Aribasoye denounced insinuations that the exercise was to witch-hunt, but to ensure transparency in governance.

During His presentation, the Chairman of Ise/Orun Local Government Mr Ayodele Akinluyi commended the Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji for providing enabling environment for the council’s Leadership to perform.

He said his tenure from the period of January 2022 till August 2023 has been innovative and Creative.

Presenting his report, the Chairman Ado Central LCDA , Mr Toyin Ojo sought the permission of the lawmakers for more time to rewrite his report .

The Chairman of Ilejemeje Local Government Mr Oloruntoba Osadare was stepped down from presentation.
