The Ekiti State House of Assembly is set to regulate the activities and method of operation of Commercial motor Cyclists popularly known as Okada in the state.
At the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye, in Ado Ekiti, the lawmakers expressed concern on the various negative reports pervading Okada operations in the state.
They pointed out that some of the security challenges being faced in the state emanated from Motor Cyclists citing the last year killing of POS operators in the state capital and innocent souls, as examples
Also, the lawmakers added that the reckless driving of some Okada riders have led to fatal accidents and injury of some residents.
The Assembly is working on Ekiti State Commercial Motor Cyclists Operators Regulatory bill 2025 to protect and safeguard the lives of citizens.
