Ekiti Cargo Airport: Aviation Minister Keyamo backs full take off of Commercial and Non Commerical Flights

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo(SAN), has expressed confidence on the functionality and full take off of Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, Ado Ekiti for commercial and non commerical Air services.

Mr Keyamo gave the affirmation during the final tour of facilities within the Cargo Airport.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, Technical Adviser on Airport Project, Mr Sunday Makinde and other state officials joined the minister during the facility tour.

Facilities inspected by the Aviation Minister included, Control Tower, Meteorological Station, Fire Service Station, Navigational aids, apron, the 3.5 runway, baggage screening section amongst others.

Mr Keyamo who briefed Journalists after the inspection said the facilities put in place at the airport, had clearly shown that Ekiti was set to take the lead in cargo air traffic services.

He commended Governor Oyebanji’s resilience to ensuring that the airport meet global standards.

Mr Keyamo explained that necessary regulatory agencies have certified the airport as safe for landing and take off for non schedule flights adding that full commerical air services would commence in a short while.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji thanked President Bola Tinubu, Aare Afe Babalola, Former Governor Kayode Fayemi and relevant bodies in the aviation sector for ensuring that the airport project was realizable.

He noted that the completion and take off of operations at the airport was part of gains of democracy.

Governor Oyebanji who expressed optimism that the flying of the Aviation Minister to the airport had signalled smooth operations in the State International Airport which will run dual services.

Saying the Airport will boost the state economy especially in the agric sectors , the Governor called for proper maintenance of the facilities therein.
