The 59 newly recruited fire fighting cadet officers of the Ekiti State Fire Service have been charged to put in their best to ensure that the lives and properties of Ekiti residents are protected against fire incidences and other forms of hazards.
The Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, gave the charge during the passing out parade of the Squad-4 Cadets in Ado Ekiti.
Governor Fayemi, represented by his deputy, Otunba BISI Egbeyemi, said the recruitment was in furtherance of his commitment to making the fire service one of the most efficient in the country.
He explained that the recruitment of the officers was done in a competitive and representative manner, adding that 3 personnel were recruited from each local government area of the State as full fledged professional fighters from each local government area of the state.
The Governor said that cases of fire outbreak had reduced in the state since 2019.
He charged the new fire fighters to exhibit high sense of professionalism with the mandate to attending to emergency cases of fire incidences and other forms of hazards in the state.
Ekiti State Head of Service, Mrs Peju Babafemi, who congratulated the personnel, charged them to add diligence and character to their job.
The newly recruited fire fighting officers comprise 42 men and 17 women.
