The Ekiti State Government and Leadership of the Organised Labour have agreed that the consequential adjustment of the new minimum wage for officers on grade level 07 to 12 be put on hold for three months with effect from May to July.
According to the memorandum of understanding signed by representatives of both government and leadership of the Labour Unions, the salaries of political office holders and accounting officers would be reduced by 25% for three months, while the release of running grants to government offices on monthly basis would also be reduced.
In the MOU, the economic review committee would henceforth meet monthly five days after FAAC, to keep Labour abreast of the financial position of the State and actions to be taken, while the 10% Internally Generated Revenue being the State responsibility to JAAC would be released henceforth.
Both parties agreed that Government should not downsize the work force or retrench any worker as a result of the financial challenges facing the state.
