Ekiti Government Reaffirms Commitment To Entrepreneurship Development In Schools

The Chairman, board for Schools Agriculture and Enterprise Agency, in Ekiti State, Mr Oladipo Akinwumi, has reaffirmed the determination of the state government to Entrepreneurship Development in Public Secondary schools across the state.

He gave the information in Ado Ekiti while declaring open a two day workshop for entrepreneurial teachers from selected Public Secondary schools in the state.

Mr Akinwumi said that the Oyebanji Administration placed a high premium on entrepreneurial skills for both in and out of school children in the state, hence the approval of the workshop by the governor.

He explained that skills acquisition in various fields would enhance self reliance that would make students job creators rather than seekers.

The Chairman of the Agency added that the workshop would equip the participants with new skills that would inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.

He said that the governor had appointed a ten full time board member to strengthen the activities of the Agency towards achieving its lofty objectives.

Mr Akinwumi added that the current school curriculum had been strengthened with the introduction of thirty four Entrepreneurship subjects for Senior Secondary schools out of which a student is expected to pick at least one.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Mr Remi Ajayi, urged the participants to be proactive in imparting the knowledge gained on their students.

Two of the participants, Mrs. Bolanle Adewole and Mr Ayodele Suleiman said that the workshop was timely, promising that it would bring improvement to their entrepreneurial skills’ training in their schools.
