The Chief of Staff to the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Omoleye, says that efforts are in top gear to defray backlogs of deductions owed local government workers in the state.
Omoleye, who gave the indication while addressing Journalists on the outcome of the month of October Joint Account Allocation Committee meeting, in Ado, said certain amount have been set aside to take care of the deductions.
He stated that the meeting discussed boundary issues in border communities with a view to resolving them before the commencement of Census, so that the state would not be at disadvantege.
The chief of staff charged the local government chairmen to look inward with the aim of increasing their Internally generated revenue and to as well foster peace in their domain.
Mr Omoleye also charged Ekiti people to be more Security conscious as the year runs to an end.
Also, the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Professor Adio Folayan, said that the Council bosses were mandated to clear the road shoulders that had been taken over by bushes in their areas to allow for feasibility and to discourage the activities of criminal elements using them as cover.
He urged the people of the State to come out enmasse to participate fully in the Local government poll coming up on the 4th of next month.
