In an effort to keep vulnerable and indigent students in school, the Ekiti state government has encouraged two thousand eight hundred and eight with financial incentives.
The incentives ranged from twenty to twenty five thousand naira.
The wife of the State Governor, Dr Olayemi Abiodun-Oyebanji, who performed the ceremony at a forum in Ado Ekiti, said the state government would not condone the drop out of indigent students from school on the account of financial constraint.
She explained that the aim of the financial incentive was to enable indigent adolescents in the state public secondary schools complete their secondary education.
Dr Abiodun-Oyebanji said children of school age had no excuse not to attend school as the state government had been proactive in ensuring access to quality education, as well as a free and compulsory education programme.
The First Lady, who also flagged off the disbursement of funds for the second phase of the massive renovation programme in the state public secondary schools, said over six hundred million naira had been earmarked for the project.
She explained that seven schools would benefit from the renovation, with about ninety one million naira to be spent on each of the schools.
