…Seeks Fathers’ Support
Towards ensuring a successful free vaccination of girls between the age 9 to 14 years against measles and HPV come January 2025, the Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency has held a day training for Fathers in five local government areas of the State.
The engagement, tagged “Fathers for Good Health” was carried out in five local governments, which are Oye, Irepodun Ifelodun, Ekiti West, Ikere and Ikole.
The State Health Educator, Dr Olajumoke Oguntoye, said that the Training on Integrated Measles Campaign, Routine Immunization and Other PHC Services became necessary to ensure the maintenance of a healthy environment.
She highlighted the importance of encouraging free HPV vaccination for girls between age 9 to 14 in January next year.
Dr Oguntoye stressed that there should be 95% vaccination coverage for both the Measle and HPV in 5 days, and charged the fathers, as stakeholders in their communities, to work closely with community mobilizers and ensure that all the eligible children are vaccinated.
The State Health Educator called for the support and encouragement of fathers to ensure the success of the exercise.
In their remarks fathers present at the meeting expressed their commitment to supporting the vaccination efforts in their respective towns and wards.
They emphasized the importance of promoting health messages and increasing vaccination within their communities.
