Men of the Ekiti State Police Command have repelled an attempted attack on the Ekiti State House of Assembly complex in Ado this morning.
The hoodlums, numbering about ten, were said to have attempted to gain entry into the Assembly complex with the believe that the operatives who had earlier laid siege there since the past few days had vacated.
They were said to have armed themselves with cutlasses and Jerry cans filled with petrol with which they wanted to set the building on fire.
The policemen on ground were said to have repelled them and recovered the fuel and some of the Cutlasses abandoned by the fleeing suspected arsonists.
Confirming the development, the Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti state Police Command, DSP Sunday Abutu, said that the invasion happened in the wee hours of the day.
He explained that the development had confirmed the intelligence received by the Command about a week ago, which necessitated the deployment of additional personnel to secure the Complex.
He said that investigation had commenced with the aim of arresting the suspects, urging the public to supply credible intelligence in that regard and to be security conscious.
